Steven Woodman
A six strong contingent gathered to sample the culinary delights of the Gatley Takeaway. Missing in action were Andy ‘Louis Saha’ Hague and Paul ‘Darren Anderton’ Day.

A suggestion was made to “review attendance figures over a 12 month period” and that regular truants would be "hit by a ban or even expulsion from the Council.” There does indeed appear to be a strong correlation between the distance to the Curry venue and none attendance of certain individuals.

I would like to nominate ObiWan to gather some vital statistics to prove this theory. OK back to the curry.

Present members at the GT were Woodman, MS Senior and Padiwan, Noble, Winfield and Jordan. Woodman making his late entrance as usual, greeted by a cheer of “alllRrightt Wooood”.

We were seated at a table of eight and embarrassingly informed the waiters that we had two people AWOL. Loaf who was “ill” and Day who had a financial meeting with a mortgage advisor.

Chapelonian Woodman had (yet again!) selected the venue based on a good recommendation from work colleagues. The council had reason to worry following his previous disastrous effort after receiving a similar recommendation for the “Great” Kathmandu back in July 2007. It has since been reported that Woodman actually took us to the wrong restaurant in Didsbury!

Thankfully for Woodman and the Council members this concern proved to be completely unfounded as the food was of the upmost quality and quantity.

The ambiance was perfect and our table was located near the fish tank, something we haven’t experienced since the days of the Bengal Dynasty in Offerton. There is something magical about eating Indian food whilst watching Nemo weave in and out of the sea grass.

Popodums were delivered 2-a-man. This delivery was met by the usual “I’m first” attempts to grab the onions and mango and they were quickly demolished (approx 5.8 seconds). The waiter quickly resolved any potential physical violence by providing the BIGGEST bowl of onions and mango chutney the council has EVER experienced in over 15 years of eating. Top marks. These bowls were also demolished.

The starters were varied and very tasty
The main course was to die for. It was by far the best curry in 2008 and will not be beaten without a hard fight.

The night ended on a real positive note. We were each provided with a Cadburys Chocolate Eclair AND a Nestle After Eight mint with the bill. Surely the best ever bill-sweets?
